The
IPC Logo consists of three Tae-Geuks, one in green, red and blue. The
three Tae-Geuks symbolise the most significant components of the human
being: Mind, Body, Spirit. "Mind, Body, Spirit" was adopted as
the IPC motto and is together with the logo an integral part of the IPC
symbol.Tae-Geuks were first used in the logo for sports for athletes with a disability during the 1988 Summer Paralympic Games in Seoul, South Korea. The logo incorporated five Tae-Geuks in a configuration similar to the Olympic rings. When in 1989 the International Paralympic Committee was created, the five Tae-Geuks were incorporated in the symbols of the IPC. In 1991, however, on the recommendation of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and for marketing purposes, the logo was changed to a new configuration of three Tae-Geuks. National Paralympic Committees have started incorporating the IPC logo in their federations' symbols. Reproduction guidelines are outlined in the IPC Standard Manual and can be obtained from the IPC headquarters. In the future, you will find these guidelines in the service section of this site. |
